Yoga Etiquette and Tips (be a yoga etiquette pro!)
1. Be On Time. Arrive 15-20 minutes early to set up before class. Check with your instructor
for any questions or concerns you may have.
2. No cell phones, or electronic and beeping devices in the yoga room.
3. Arrive with clean feet and avoid strong body odor. Please do not wear perfume to yoga practice.
Leave your shoes, bags etc in the changing rooms. Please leave valuable belongings at home.
4. Avoid engaging in loud conversations while waiting for the class to start. Once the class starts,
remain silent and focus on practicing your postures.
5. Avoid eating a full meal within two hours before class. Best results from Hot Yoga are
achieved if you practice on an empty stomach (not starving stomach). The first official water
break is after the Eagle Pose. Stay hydrated by taking sips of water if needed during the breaks
in-between the poses through the rest of the class. Drink lots of water after the class, too.
6. Try to stay in the yoga room with the class to finish practice. Avoid frequent step in-and-outs.
If you must leave the room, please do so discreetly to minimize disruptions to the class.
7. Practice stillness between postures to ensure you are getting all the therapeutic benefits. If you
feel the need to skip a posture or two, you may sit down on your mat in lotus pose for a rest.
8. If you have never taken Hot Yoga classes before, you might feel the heat is challenging to you.
This Feeling Is Normal. Your body will get used to the heat soon and enjoy sweating during the
classes. You will also likely feel some sore muscles. This Is Normal, Too. Your muscle aches will
go away soon after your body gets used to the stretching. You will start to feel great energy
boost, much improved flexibility and increased strength, more toned muscles/body physique,
healthy weight loss/maintenance, better skin look, better sleep during the night, and so much
more wonderful health benefits that Hot Yoga offers you. If you are sick or ill, please wait until
you are fully recovered before returning to class.
9. Be Self-Motivated and Have A Positive Attitude. Hot Yoga has been one of the most
well-received and effective methods for quick energy boost, effective weight loss and body
toning, increase of joint flexibility and muscle strength, immune system strengthening, detox,
stress and anxiety release, excellent mental concentration and etc. Stay with your practice. Do
Not Give Up Easily.
10. During the final Savasana at the end of class, be mindful of others around you in the class by
restraining yourself from talking so everyone can enjoy a peaceful and quiet final Savasana.
